VelvetAPI documentation

VelvetAPI is an HTTP API for generating images of fictional adults. You create a task with a model, its input and an id for your end user. The task’s price is held from your prepaid balance, a GPU runs the job, and you get image URLs back by polling or through a signed webhook. If the job fails, the hold is released.

VelvetAPI is for adults only. Read the content policy before you build on it.

The basics

Section titled “The basics”
  • Base URL: https://api.velvetapi.dev
  • Authentication: Authorization: Bearer vk_... with an API key from the console. See Authentication.
  • Format: JSON in and out. Errors look like {"error": {"type": "...", "message": "..."}}. See Errors.
  • Billing: prepaid credits, charged per image, only for tasks that succeed. See Billing.
  • OpenAPI: the full machine-readable description is at /openapi.json, and a plain-text index for AI agents is at /llms.txt.
